A Note From Your Class...
The Kindergarten team will be holding a fundraiser starting on October 1st and ending on Oct 15th. We will be selling Pies and Cookie Dough. The money raised will go to helping pay for our Field trip this year. If you can sell at least one item to a family member, friend or neighbor it will help us reach our goal of raising $800. Thank you for your help and there will be exciting prizes for top sellers!
First Grade
ELA: We are reading a variety of books in which students are identifying the characters, problem/solution, setting and theme.
Math: Students are working on different strategies to help them add and subtract. We are also learning how to count on using the bigger number.
Second Grade
ELA: We are continuing to look at character traits through a read aloud of Charlotte’s Web. Students are working on identifying character traits based on evidence from the story.
Math: The students are learning a variety of strategies that allow them to add and subtract as well as comparing numbers.
Third Grade
ELA: We are continuing to read Because of Winn-Dixie and exploring the different characters and their traits.
Math: We are continuing to practice multiplication and will soon be learning how to divide!
Fourth Grade
ELA: We are continuing our journey with informational texts. We have already discussed text features and will be moving on to author’s purpose and then text structures (how authors organize a text to help readers better understand topics). Please ask your child what they learned in class every night! Math: We are starting to work on multiplying and dividing large numbers. It is extremely important that your child knows their multiplication by heart. Without knowing these facts, other skills are going to be much more difficult.
Fifth Grade
ELA: We are reading a mystery called Chasing the Falconers. We will be using this mystery to learn about tricks authors use to grab the reader’s attention, called literary devices. In writing we will apply what we learn in reading class as we begin writing our own mysteries! Please ask your child what the book is about!
