Message from Ms. Thompson
We hope you have enjoyed time away from the typical hustle and bustle of the school year! We've enjoyed interacting with the Bear Cubs that are participating in Elevate. It has been a jam packed summer of learning, exploring the arts, and old fashioned fun. The last day of Elevate is Friday, June 24th.
This summer we will come to a neighborhood near you to enjoy Popsicles with the Principals. Come as a family and enjoy some sweet treats, yard games, and collect some books for summer reading.
Popsicles with the Principals Dates:
Wilmore Elementary Intermediate Playground on Tuesday, June 28th from 5:30-6:15
Grinder Court on Tuesday, June 28th from 6:30-7:00
High Bridge Park on Wednesday, July 6th from 5:30-6:30
Kalas Village Playground on Monday, July 11th from 5:45-6:45

We sent home the Summer Slide resources and our iReady Summer Challenge with students one of the last days of school. We encourage all students to create a routine to engage their brains in continued learning this summer. Learn more below about how you can support your Bear Cub and prevent the "summer slide".
Please continue reading this month's edition of the Bear Cub Bulletin to learn more about family events and upcoming opportunities to connect with our school and community.
Our office ours this summer will be Monday-Friday 8:00-1:00. If you need to set up an appointment, you can call us at (859) 858-3134 or you can email me and I will make sure someone is in the office to support you.

Safety at School
Prevention and preparation are key to making our schools as safe as possible and responding
effectively in an emergency. A number of our safety measures are more apparent, including
locked exterior doors, secure entry vestibules, and School Resource Officers on our campuses.
Please read the following message shared by Superintendent Matt Moore with all district staff and families following the tragedy at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas. We will work with district, school, and local officals to continue safety protocols and ensure all preventative measures are in place at Wilmore Elementary.
Examples of other steps that may be less obvious include locked classroom doors, video
monitoring, student drills, staff training, safety exercises, and simulations conducted jointly with
law enforcement. Other factors, from building design, to mental health services, and efforts to
build and maintain a positive culture in our schools, focus on the safety and well-being of our
students and staff. Just recently, we met with our law enforcement and emergency services
partners to review our emergency procedures and discuss improvements and revisions.
If you would like more information on how to provide support for children who are processing
this and other violent events, here are two resources that might help:

School safety is a shared responsibility and our greatest priority. Thank you for your partnership
and for entrusting your child to our care.
