DECEMBER'S BIG EVENTS

Saturday, December 11---MORNING---MISD SPIRIT CHAMPIONSHIP

BOYD HS 8:15 am-10:15 am

This is a high school cheer competition, and middle school cheer teams are performing between the high school routines. This will be a great opportunity for our girls to perform at a large event, as well as be able to watch area high school cheer teams compete!

Wear uniform, hair in high ponytail with red bow, red lipstick, and bring red/silver poms. NO JEWELRY. NO JACKETS. NO BAGS---only bring a disposable water bottle. Coaches will have a backpack if you'd like for us to keep your phones. You need to be at Boyd at 8:20 am for warm up. LOTS of teams will be reporting for warm ups, so be on time. Parents, you will need to purchase tickets if you'd like to watch. I will send the Ticket Spicket information out to purchase tickets. The event starts at 9:00 am. There are a total of about 25 area high schools attending the event. Cockrill cheer is performing 2 times. The girls are free to leave after our second performance, or they can stay and watch the other teams. Our performance times are as follows: 9:15 am and 10:05 am.

Saturday, December 11---EVENING---DOWNTOWN MCKINNEY CHRISTMAS PARADE

Downtown Mckinney (5:00 pm)

Wear your uniform, cheer jacket, black leggings, cheer shoes, hair 1/2 up with red bows, red lipstick. Do not bring a bag. There will be nowhere for you to keep it once the parade starts to move. Reporting time and location will be sent out as soon as we are told. The parade starts at 6:30 pm but line up is at 5:00 pm. Wear extra layers under your jacket if it's cold. Feel free to wear gloves/mittens as well. Parking will be limited, so please plan to drop your daughter off before parking. I'm sure it'll be a zoo.

December 17-Student/Teacher BB game (we are performing our routines during 5th period and 6th period)

MEET OUR COACHES

Coach Wandersee has had over 18 years of coaching experience (middle school, high school, co-ed high school, and competitive cheer teams) and also worked as a head UCA camp instructor for 8 years, traveling all over the country teaching camps, choreography, and tumbling classes. She attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where she cheered all 4 years on the Varsity co-ed team. In 2004 she served as a judge for the European National Championship and worked as a competition judge for UCA and Spirit Event Coordinators for 7 years. She taught and coached at Ted Polk Middle School and Newman Smith High School in Carrollton/Farmers Branch for 5 years, and for the past 9 years has been a 7th and 8th grade teacher and cheer coach at Cockrill. Coach Wandersee is starting her third season as an all-star cheer coach at Texas Dynamix in Plano. Coach Wandersee has two kids (first grade and third grade) at Wilmeth, and her husband is a realtor with Remax. Coach Wandersee’s love for working with students is evident in all that she does, whether it’s in the classroom, in the gym, or on the field.

Coach Matte has been a Science teacher for 11 years and cheer coach for three years. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Coach Matte has a heavy background in dance and cheer and absolutely loves coaching at the middle school level. She danced for six years, starting at the age of 7. Her love for dance and choreography sparked her interest to cheer for three years in high school, but she soon discovered her love for dance was even stronger. She ended her senior year with dancing on her school’s drill team. After high school, Coach Matte attended Louisiana State University where she met her husband. She graduated with a degree in education and a minor in Earth Science before she went on to get her Masters degree in Educational Leadership. She has three sons who attend McKinney ISD schools. She is looking forward to this school year and spreading her love of cheer and dance to our CMS cheer team!
