Brahma Briefing
Brahma Weekly Updates
Week 33: April 20 - 24, 2020
Hello Brahmas,
Welcome to our Expanded Distance Learning program. I hope you and your family are healthy and well! The next six weeks, April 20 - May 28, 2020 will involve innovative ways to connect with your teachers and engage in learning while being "Safer At Home." I am excited to hear about the learning activities that our students will experience, and I think we all welcome the virtual structure to our day.
Over the last few weeks, we have listened to students, parents, and community stakeholders and we have been waiting as long as possible to confirm if the temporary ban on large groups would change. What is now abundantly clear is we will be required to finish the school year without allowing any large gatherings including senior activities and most importantly graduation. At the same time, we are all committed to doing the very best we can to celebrate our seniors and close the year strong. As such we will have a virtual Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, May 28, 2020 (Time TBD). I also want to express our commitment to celebrating our seniors in a live ceremony when large group gatherings are allowed again. In the meantime, we are actively working to make our virtual celebration as memorable for our seniors as possible. Where appropriate, we are working to secure refunds and will communicate those details soon. Thank you for your support, feedback, and communication as we work through our school closure and Expanded Distance Learning plan together.
I hope you and your family are healthy and well, and please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Reuben Jones

Hey Freshmen! It’s your class of 2023 president, Michelle Chan!
First off, I hope you’ve all been doing well so far. Although the reason for this break is unfortunate, for many of us, it’s been a great opportunity to relax and have some time to ourselves. Our academics and extra-curriculars may not have gone as planned, but I hope that it can be made up in the next three years.
Still, some of us are worried about grades that we haven’t been able to raise, but no worries, distance learning is an opportunity to improve our grades. I hope everyone has been doing well so far in terms of distance learning. I feel that we are fortunate to still have access to learning from home. I believe this will bring some positive productivity and structure back into our lives.
As much as I wanted to get a head start in academics during this time, I’ll admit I’ve been using this time to relax and pursue more of my hobbies, like drawing or baking. Honestly, I didn’t realize I could fail at making something as simple as rice krispies. There are also times where I’m binge watching shows and sleeping at times that are so late they can be considered “early”.
This whole situation may have given a rocky start to our high school careers, but I hope that everyone can stay optimistic. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again soon!
