HOW TO OBTAIN YOUR CHILD'S GOOGLE LOGIN INFORMATION
CHROMEBOOK DISTRIBUTION
With some 4,000 Chromebook requests, we are working as fast as we can to get back with each family to receive your Chromebooks. Please do not submit duplicate requests as this slows down the process. Thank you for your patience and your understanding. We will continue to communicate as soon as your Chromebooks are available to be picked up. We have enough Chromebooks for everyone, your patience is appreciated.
Should you need a Chromebook to assist with learning from home, please fill click HERE to be added to the distribution list. A few things to note about the Chromebook distribution:
- A form needs to be completed for EACH student who needs a Chromebook.
- Complete the form EVEN if your child currently has a district provided Chromebook at home. (This is needed to record keeping purposes. They will be able to keep the Chromebook they currently have.)
- An email will be sent to the email address submitted letting your family know when the Chromebook is ready for pick up and the time/date/location to pick up.
WLCSD FOOD SERVICE BREAKFAST & LUNCH
Parents can pre-order breakfasts and lunches by completing this Food Service Order Form by midnight, Thursday, August 27, for the week beginning August 31. This is WLCSD students, all school days. Pick up is at the three high schools between the hours of 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Meals will need to be ordered each week (an email will be sent to remind you). We will continue serving meals to Walled Lake Consolidated School Students every week while school is in session.
PARENT TECHNOLOGY INFORMATION SESSION- Thursday, August 27
Walled Lake Schools wants to ensure parents are ready to assist their children with both Our Path and My Path. The WLCSD Learning Services Department has planned a virtual Parent Technology Info-Session, for Thursday, August 27, 2020, at 7 p.m. If you are unable to attend this session, we are taping and will make it available following the event. Here are the details:

KINDERGARTEN STAGGERED START
To help our youngest learners transition into kindergarten, WLCSD will be utilizing a staggered start on the first day of school, Monday, August 31st. Please note the following information:
Students with Last Name starting with A-K attend Kindergarten in the Morning - 9:00am - 12:00pm
Students with Last Name starting with L-Z attend Kindergarten in the Afternoon - 1:00pm - 4:00pm
ELEMENTARY SUPPLY LISTS
Here is a list of suggested supplies for elementary students as well as a suggested FAPES (music, art, PE, media) supply list that you may want to have available for at-home learning. These are suggested (not mandatory) lists. If you are not able to purchase these supplies, please let your classroom teacher know.
In addition, it will be helpful to have a timer that your child can use for remote learning. This could be a timer on the device they are using, a kitchen timer, the timer on the microwave, a stop watch, etc. There will be times when the teacher introduces a lesson, sends the children off to do some independent work, and asks for them to report back in X minutes. A timer will help children manage this transition more independently.
Lastly, we are working on a plan to distribute materials (math journals, grade level specific items, supplies from the supply drive) to families. It will be similar to our end of the year exchange of materials in which families stayed in their car and staff put materials in the trunk. This distribution will likely take place within the first two weeks of school. I will share the plan with you at a later date and appreciate your patience.
TIPS FOR LEARNING FROM HOME
WALLED LAKE ELEMENTARY RECEIVES APPROVAL FOR A THERAPY DOG!
WE ARE WALLED LAKE STRONG
We know that these are difficult times for our families. Please know that no matter which path you take, we are here for you. With this in mind, our WLCSD elementary principal team wanted to share our commitments to each of you. Please take a moment to watch this special video we made for our elementary schools.
In this time of uncertainty, one thing remains true...the WLCSD community is united and committed to providing the best learning environment for every child, every day.
RESOURCES AVAILABLE
The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all of us in one way or another. Some in our community have experienced a dramatic decline in household income. I am working in conjunction with a few local organizations that have resources available to help students and families in need. It really speaks volumes about the community in which we live that neighbors want to help neighbors through these difficult times.
Some of the resources available are new clothing/shoes, school supplies, and food. I would like to help match these resources with those that could use a little bit of help. If your family could benefit from any of these resources, please complete this short survey.
ALL K-12 FAMILIES MUST COMPLETE
Walled Lake Schools has streamlined the annual registration/first-day packet process for ALL K-12 families. The District will be using the Family Access/Skyward system to automate the process for updating and completing documents such as the emergency card, Food Service application, FERPA form, fee payments, Code of Conduct, and other important annual school forms that require parent approval.
A Skyward Family Access parent account is required in order to complete the Online Back-to-School Packet process for all schools. (A parent account username is alphanumeric - SMITHMAD000; a student account username is the student's ID number - 1234567.) To obtain a Family Access account, email familyaccess@wlcsd.org from your email account on file with the district or call 248-956-2190 (email is best). Please include ALL of the following information in the body of your message. You will be contacted within 3 business days.
- Guardian Name
- Your student name(s) and name of schools they attend in Walled Lake Schools
- Guardian's email address currently on file with the district
- Daytime phone number
