School Counselor Appreciation Month
Thank you to our incredible school counselors!
Operations Department Provides Healthy and Safe Schools Report
The West Linn-Wilsonville School District has worked hard to decrease herbicide usage in recent years, investing in specially-designed fence guards to prevent weeds and unwanted pests. Herbicides are only used when absolutely necessary, with the district decreasing usage by more than 80% in the past decade. Interested community members can learn more by visiting the district website.
Long Range Planning and Bond Oversight Committee Presents Quarterly Report
The report focused on the New Athey Creek Middle School at Dollar Street, which continues to progress toward completion ahead of the 2023-24 school year. Concurrently, the Capital Bond Program is preparing for construction work at the existing Athey Creek Middle School, which will transition to Riverside High School also starting in 2023-24. The full Quarterly Report can be accessed on the Bond Website.
School Board Approves Integrated Grant Application
Following extensive engagement of WLWV stakeholders, which included survey data, focus group feedback, staff input, and much more, district staff finalized the Integrated Grant Application for School Board approval. The application includes district goals and plans for utilizing state-provided funding to improve student achievement with equity in mind.
School Board Approves Updates to Graduation Requirements
As part of the new schedule, the Board approved updates to graduation requirements, raising the minimum number of credits needed from 24 to 27 for students to earn a West Linn-Wilsonville High School Diploma. In the previous 6 period schedule, students only had the ability to earn 24 credits during their 4 years of high school. Students who are unable to complete 27 credits, either because they entered the district late in their high school careers or have additional limiting factors, can still earn an Oregon Department of Education Graduation Diploma if they complete 24 high school credits. Read the full recommendation on the district website.
