News from Fourth Grade

September 28-October 2

What's Happening???

This week we will be discussing how to participate effectively in discussions, being careful readers, and using visualization to help us better understand what we are reading. In addition, students will be silent reading and participating in guided reading groups throughout the week. Students will also be able to take AR tests as they are ready for them.

Remember students should be recording their 30 minutes of reading every night on their home reading log and turning it in every Friday!

We will be finishing up multiplying a 2 digit number by a 2 digit number using the area model. We will then be working on the second and third tasks of our Real World Experience. We will also be multiplying multi-digit numbers using the partial product strategy. Students will be working daily on their math facts.

Today in Friday Folders, I sent home information on how to get your child logged on at home on to, which is a fluency website we use here at school. It is a great way for students to practice their math facts!

Below are examples of what the previously mentioned strategies for multiplication look like.
