Message From The Principal
Happy Spring Break Stoller Families,
Although I said we would begin sending out the Stoller News on a monthly basis, I felt that since there was so much information we need to get out to the families, we would send a "special spring break edition."
In this issue you will find information about BSD Math Placement, Summer School Information, Spring Meal Resources, 6th Grade Outdoor School, Yearbook Ordering, and Upcoming Principal Chat. Also, this would be a great time to update your calendar to include the early release dates of April 19, May 26, and June 21 along with the remaining No School Dates in April and May.
I hope you all get a chance to relax and spend time with family and friends over the next week. The weather is looking promising for the opportunity to do some outdoor activities.
Have a great break!

DEADLINE for 2021-22 Yearbook Pre-Order
April 1st is the deadline to order your 2021/22 yearbook.
Yearbooks are $20 and you may pre-order online though the online payment system or pay with a check through April 1, 2022.
Checks should be made out to: Stoller Middle School. Please include your student's id# and "yearbook" in the memo field. Checks may be brought to the main office.
There will be a limited amount of yearbooks for sale for those who don't pre-order prior to the March 2022 deadline .
Chromebook Styluses
We have been hearing that students are giving their styluses to other students as they aren't using theirs. Please remember, that these are borrowed devices and the expectation is that when Chromebooks are returned it will include a stylus.
About 1/4 of our students are not covered by the insurance program, so for those students, there will be a fee if the stylus is not returned with the device at the end of the year.

3rd Annual Community Conversations Around Race: April 6, 2022
Registration is now open for the Third Annual Community Conversations Around Race. This year’s conversation will consist of two parts, a Student Roundtable Discussion from 4:30-5:30 followed by a Racial Affinity Space Conversation from 5:35-6:30.
You can register at: http://bit.ly/2022ConversationsAroundRace or through this QR Code below.
The Student Roundtable Discussion will elevate high school students' voices, sharing their personal narratives and experiences while allowing the listeners to lean into their own racial literacy. Racial literacy is the knowledge, skills, and awareness needed to talk thoughtfully about race and racism, with the goal of eradicating racism. The Racial Affinity Space will be an opportunity for participants to reflect on their learning from the student panel and engage in discussions based on their racial identity. The event will take place via zoom. An email will be sent to all registrants on the day of the event with the agenda, including links.
We thank you for your interest in joining us for this event on April 6, 2022 from 4:30-6:30 pm.

Spring’s Steps to Bicycle Safety
With more people itching to get outside to walk and bike, it’s a good time to review the rules to ensure everyone’s safety. Be sure to review the best routes to use and if biking, check the bike’s condition before you head out. This short video, “ABC Quick Check” can help!
Here are a few steps to remember:
● Always wear your helmet
● Ride in the same direction as traffic, not against traffic.
● Be visible. Wear a bright jacket or add
reflective material or blinking lights to increase visibility.
● Stay alert and ride predictably, in a straight line.
● If riding on the sidewalk or in a crosswalk, ride at walking speed and be prepared to walk your bike when it gets busy or at the request of crossing guards. Be always mindful of pedestrians and aware of traffic.
● Don’t assume that drivers see you – always watch for cars making turns or backing out of driveways. Learn bicycle safety skills in a class or ask Safe Routes to School to give a lesson at your school!

8th Grade Celebration News
Hi 8th Grade Families!
Well it’s another year full of challenges. Someday our Class of 2026 kiddos will have a “normal” year, right?
Your 8th grade committee has been working hard on year-end activities. Typically this includes a send-off and a celebration as well as a class t-shirt. We aim to make this full of special memories for the kids as they leave middle school and get ready for high school.
Our tentative plan for our year-end celebration is a closed party at Kingpin’s during the last week of school. A closed party means the outside public is not allowed in during the party. We find this works best for both safety and health reasons. The party includes full food and games and school-sponsored transportation to and from the event.
We will also be doing a send-off where your kiddo will receive their t-shirt with their high school on it or just a generic class of 2026 if they prefer. Details for this are TBD.
We realize things are in flux and we are prepared to pivot at any time but as of now we are looking to collect funds of $45 from each family to fund these activities. If we need to scale back on our celebration we will offer full or partial refunds at that time, depending on the circumstances. We want to be clear that if you are not able to pay this amount, you will definitely still be included in the celebration. There are also options to donate more than the requested amount to support our Stoller families where contributing would be an unnecessary burden. We are very hopeful that things will be in a much different place come June!
We are requesting that you make your $45 payment using the link below by February 15th. Please also fill out your information using the other link in this email. This is not to track who pays or who doesn’t but ensures that your $45 goes to the 8th grade fund since the PTO has multiple sources of income. This also helps us track how close we are to our goal of fully funding these activities.
Last but not least, if you would like to help out with any of the aforementioned activities in a volunteer capacity, please make sure to mark your interests on your MyImpact volunteer profile and volunteer form link.
Any questions? Contact our 8th grade committee at Stoller8grade@gmail.com
We look forward to celebrating our 8th graders in the best way possible!
Thanks for your support,
Paul Baker, Amy Charon & Bradi Gates
