Weekly Staff Newsletter 11/20-12/4

Lights On...Lights Off!

Thank you everyone for rolling with it today...we saw classrooms moving along with lessons without skipping a beat! Thank you for your flexibility and patience! Shout out to our kitchen staff for working around this electrical mess and getting our students in and out!

Measure Twice, Cut Once!

Teachers, now that we have received training on Rigor and Relevance, we need to create as many "D" quadrant lessons as we can each week. Be sure you are using the Blooms Taxonomy Teacher Planning sheet and your R&R packets when you are planning lessons with your teams. We know planning time is limited, but intentional, specific lessons are the foundation for quality, impactful instruction. (We are discussing ways to give teachers more planning time next semester, such as getting subs for half days, and utilizing every other Wednesday afternoon for additional lesson planning time, only holding staff meetings every other week.)

If we don't take time to create quality, rigorous lessons, and time to truly collaborate and discuss these lessons with our team mates, it results in a breakdown. Should the students of the science planner have deeper and more rigorous science instruction than the class with the teacher who usually plans math? Let's be sure we are having those important conversations each week. Remember what Mr. Jenkins said in our Rigor and Relevance training..."MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE!"

Data Wall

Teachers, if you haven't done so already, the data walls in the PLC room need to be updated asap with your latest CBA/Unit Test data from the 2nd six weeks. All students who did not meet the standard on our last round of Unit Tests/CBAs need to be noted on their post-its prior to this week's PLCs. Thank you for taking care of this promptly!
