Flipgrid Whiteboard Videos and "Shorts"

Transiton between a webcam video and a whiteboard video easily in Flipgrid! Check out the video below for recording a whiteboard video. And, if you record through Flipgrid's "Shorts", you can share those videos anywhere. Learn more about Shorts here. You can add images to your video, switch to whiteboard, add text, and more! Here's a quick tutorial I just made on that. I wish I'd known that option before creating my book review yesterday becuase I couldn've added my photos to the video instead of holding up my phone with images. (face palm)

Idea for English Teachers?

Jason Reynolds, and amazing author and the Library of Congress National Ambassador for Young People's Literature, is starting something new. On April 14, Reynolds will debut his first initiative in support of his platform GRAB THE MIC: Tell Your Story—including a monthly newsletter for parents and educators focused on relevant topics of the day and a biweekly video series intended to inspire creativity in young people, titled “Write. Right. Rite.” Both will be hosted on Reynolds’ GRAB THE MIC Resource Guide at: guides.loc.gov/jason-reynolds/grab-the-mic.

I have no idea what level these writing prompts on "Write. Right. Rite" will be geared towards, but his novels and poetry range from middle-grades to YA... He's wonderful if you havne't read him before. Check out the video below for a message from him about this project, and learn more about it here and here.

Submit a Book Review--only MRHS peeps can see them!

Hey, Mustangs! Read any good books lately or have a favorite that everyone should read? Submit a book review to Flipgrid here: https://flipgrid.com/e9db6588, or scan the QR code in your Flipgrid app. Help someone find their next favorite! Need help with Flipgrid? Shoot Mrs. LaRue an email, or she can video chat w/you, too. This would be a cool activity to do with students...how great would it be to have a whole page of reveiws from students and staff in one place? My example is below, but the rest won't be on YouTube...just Flipgrid (shared on the library website for all to see).
