Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

OCD is part of the anxiety group. It is characterized by unreasonable thoughts and fears or obsessions that lead to repetitive behaviors, which are called compulsions. It is possible to only have obsessions or only have compulsions and still have obsessive compulsive disorder.

Symptoms of OCD Include:

  • High need for Organization
  • Fears of Violence
  • Unwanted Sexual Thoughts
  • Dwelling on Relationships
  • Seeking Reassurance
  • Fear of Germs

Medication and psychotherapy can be used to help bring symptoms under control so they don't rule over the lives of the patients. Some patients will need to use medication for the rest of their lives.
