About Andy Warhol
Andy Warhola was born on August 6, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was a successful magazine and ad illustrator who became the leading artist of the 1960's Pop art movements.
At the age of 8 he got Chorea. During this time his mother gave him his first drawing lessons. Drawing soon became one of his favorite things to do in his free time.
On June 3rd, 1968 Andy was shot 3 times by Valerie Solanis and was seriously wounded.
He got into a variety of art forms like performing, filming, video installations and writing.

At the age of 9 he started getting into photography so his mother gave him his first camera. They made up a makeshift darkroom in their basement.
Andys father passed away when he was 14. He was so upset he didn't even go to the wake, instead he hid under his bed. His father had recognized his artistic talents and he gave his life savings towards his sons college education.
After he graduated college he moved to New York to pursue his career of coming a commercial artist, during that time he also dropped the "a" on his last name to become Andy Warhol.
He created approximately 600 films between 1963 and 1976, ranging from a few minutes to 24 hours. One of his films called 'Sleep' was a 6 hour video of his friend sleeping
