The polar bear is an omnivore that is native to the Arctic Circle, it weighs about 350-700 kg. They have no natural enemies, and do not fear humans which potentially make them dangerous. Polar bears are classified as a vulnerable species.

Threats or causes of extinction and courses of action.

Threats of extinction to the polar bear are global warming. Their habitats are threatened by this because they are melting and if this continues it is estimated the within the next 45 years they will be extinct. The Polar Bears are protected under the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972. Also a team of experts have been put together called the " Polar Bear Recovery Team" to develop a conservation management plan for them.
