Happy Valentine's Day!
No School Thursday and Friday, February 15 &16
From Mrs. Marvin...
During the month of February the PreK class has been learning about Valentine's Day with making heart crafts and learning how to show kindness to people. Some ideas that the class has to show kindness are make green choices, help pick up toys, take turns, open the door for others and give presents. Valentine's Day is the day of love, we all know that Jesus loves us to pieces!
Middle School Concert CHANGE
Hello parents! We have come across some unexpected conflicts with the original date for the middle school concert. After some consideration, I believe we have come up with a win-win solution. The concert is now going to be what we call an "in-formance" which means it will happen in the school day. Middle school students will need to bring their basketballs to school that day.
Parents, family, and friends are invited to attend our "in-formance" on Wednesday, March 27 at 1:50 PM in the Don Bosco Gym. Due to copyright laws, we cannot livestream the concert, but we will be recording it and emailing it to families of middle school students.
Please reach out to Mrs. Knepper with any questions.
No Waterloo Busing
Please note there is no Waterloo Busing February 22-23, the Bosco bus will still run in the morning and afternoon.
Archery State Merchandise
The merchandise for State Archery is available now through February 19 at 11:59pm. No late orders will be accepted.

From Mr. Mikita...
This weekend is the big Perry Band Olympics. We depart at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 16 and go to Williamsburg to play for the residents there before heading to North Polk High School in Alleman, to help set up for the contest. Our time on Friday at North Polk High School will be determined by how long it takes for us to help them set up at North Polk for the contest the next day. After we are finished with the set up, then we will head for Ames for supper and to spend the night at the hotel. The performance times for next week should be arriving soon and I will get those out to everyone as soon as I can. This should be an exciting time!

Lenten Season is Upon Us
It's hard to believe Lent is already here! Fun fact--Lent is the earliest it can be this year--February 14. Lent is a time of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. During the season of Lent, we prepare ourselves for the Resurrection of Christ on Easter. As Catholics, we are encouraged to fast from something (or give something up). Denying ourselves of things we enjoy is a small reminder of Christ's sacrifice for us on the cross. Ash Wednesday is specifically a day of fasting and abstinence which means that Catholics need to refrain from eating meat as well as eat two small meals and one normal size meal (should not add up to two full meals).
As we fast, it is important to remember that we do this as a way to grow spiritually. It is best to avoid complaining about the fact that you are hungry and want a burger 😊. Instead, redirect the struggle into a conversation with God. In addition to giving something up, we should also consider how God might be calling us to grow spiritually by adding something in. This could be attending Sunday Mass more regularly or adding in 15 minutes of prayer each day.
