In a unanimous vote shortly before midnight Wednesday, August 17, the Lake Travis school board approved an order calling a $703 million bond election for November 8, 2022.
In June, the District’s Long Range Facilities Planning Committee presented its proposal to the board, calling for districtwide capital improvements to accommodate projected growth in student enrollment. According to demographer Population and Survey Analysts (PASA)—and considering a moderate growth rate scenario—projections indicate an average increase of 3.35% annually between 2022 and 2031, resulting in a total enrollment of approximately 15,700 students.
The major components of the District’s 2022 bond program include:
- New High School
- New Elementary #8
- New Elementary #9
- Lake Travis High School Additions and Upgrades
- Campus and District Renovations and Improvements
- Facilities Condition Assessment Projects
- Technology
- Land
Additional information about the District’s 2022 bond program, including each proposition and an itemized list of projects, is available on the Lake Travis ISD website. Community presentations will begin in the fall. Early voting will occur Monday, October 24 through Friday, November 4. Election Day is Tuesday, November 8.

Elementary campuses to open at 7am for student drop off
As with any new school year, we know there are some operational challenges to address. In particular, the traffic congestion in and around our schools and longer than usual student drop off/pickup lines. We are also aware of the hardships some parents are facing as a result of our rotating schedule for bus services.
To provide some relief for our working families, each LTISD elementary campus is now open at 7:00 am, Monday through Friday. An administrator will be onsite at each elementary campus to receive students. School principals have provided additional information to parents via email. We ask for your continued patience and understanding during these first weeks of school.
District publishes curriculum audit results
In order to best meet the instructional needs of students across Lake Travis ISD, a comprehensive Curriculum Audit was conducted during Spring 2022.
Conducted under the auspices of the Texas Curriculum Management Audit Center/Texas Association of School Administrators, the audit was an intensive and focused snapshot evaluation of how well Lake Travis ISD has been able to set valid directions for pupil accomplishment and well-being; concentrate its resources to accomplish those directions; and improve its performance, however contextually defined or measured, over time.
The Curriculum Audit centered its focus on the main business of schools: teaching, curriculum, and learning. Auditors used five focus areas against which to compare, verify, and comment upon the District’s existing curricular management practices:
- District Vision and Accountability: The school district has a clear vision and demonstrates its control of resources, programs, and personnel.
- Curriculum: The school district has established clear and valid objectives for students and clientele.
- Consistency and Equity: The school district demonstrates internal consistency and rational equity in its program development and implementation.
- Feedback: The school district uses the results from district-designed or adopted assessments to adjust, improve, or terminate ineffective practices or programs.
- Productivity: The school district has improved its productivity and efficiency, particularly in the use of resources.
The auditors report where and how District practices, policies, and processes have met or not met the criteria and expectations related to each focus area and what specific action steps are recommended for revising areas needing improvement. These findings and their corresponding recommendations are presented in detail in the Full Report.
A committee comprised of District and campus leaders analyzed audit results in June, and a Plan of Action to focus on progress monitoring was created.
District releases update to COVID-19 protocols and dashboard for 2022-2023 school year
Feedback sought on ESSER funding
Lake Travis ISD applied to receive Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. The intent and purpose of the funding is to sustain the safe operation of schools and address student learning needs as a result of COVID-19.
As a part of ongoing ESSER provisions, the District is required to review and revise, as applicable, its plan every six months—including receiving stakeholder input to assist us with prioritizing ESSER funding and developing our Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan.
In an effort to obtain parent and community feedback, we have developed a survey linked below. Please take a moment to share your input and opinions. Responses are due by Friday, September 23, 2022 and will be reviewed and taken into consideration as the District updates its plan. Your participation and feedback are valued and appreciated.

Vail Divide Extension Project continues on schedule
Construction of the Vaile Divide Extension Project continues as scheduled between State Highway 71 and Hamilton Pool Road in western Travis County.
The extension will connect SH 71 and Hamilton Pool Road, providing motorists and local residents with much needed relief. Included in the project is the installation of a traffic signal at Vail Divide and Hamilton Pool Road near Bee Cave Elementary School.
Construction began in March 2022, and substantial completion is expected in early 2023. Lake Travis ISD has oversight of the project.
