Immune cells involved in immune response

Patients who recovered had higher levels of activated T cells in their blood and had certain variants of a gene that codes for surface proteins that white blood cells use to communicate, also, there is a protein produced by platelets that could be part of the body’s attempt to repair damaged blood vessels.

How Ebola replicates

The virus replicates through the lytic cycle.

  1. The virus attaches to the cell
  2. The virus penetrates the cell membrane and injects its' own DNA
  3. DNA makes it into the nucleus and tells the cell to start making more copies of the virus
  4. Cell starts making more cells
  5. Cell is full of virus' and cell explodes releasing all the virus
