This session will give an overall review of what happens in the court system, when
a youth is arrested or detained by law enforcement: Court Appearances,
Appointed or Retained Counsel, Delinquency Petition or Criminal Accusation,
Sentencing Guidelines.

Chief Judge Pamela D. South State Court, Gwinnett County Division, S5
Judge Pam South has been a State Court Judge since 2001 and has served as Chief Judge of State Court since 2013. She served as a Magistrate Court Judge in Gwinnett for almost two years before taking the State Court bench. As a lawyer, she worked for almost ten years for the Gwinnett District Attorney’s Office under the tenures of Danny Porter and Tom Lawler. She also worked in private practice for the firm of Strauss and Walker in Covington, Georgia upon her graduation from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1988. Since her appointment to the Bench in 2001, South has graduated from Leadership Gwinnett, served as a D.U.I Court judge, initiated a Mental Health Pretrial Diversion Program, and hosted a summer mentoring program for high school students.
