Message from Mrs. Hawkins
Lincoln Families,
I know you have many questions and concerns about the coming school year. Please know we are excited and prepared for students to begin the In-Person Model starting September 8th. There are many procedures and requirements we are working through, but despite this, our staff is ready to make this a great year for your children. At this time, I would like to share with you some changes and procedures for the 20-21 school year.
Start and End Time: The student day will start at 8:25 and end at 2:05. This change was made to accommodate the bus schedule. Multiple bus routes will happen before and after school. If you are dropping off students before school, please drop off between 8:15 and 8:25. After school, we will be staggering the release of students. The city bus route dismissal is 2:00, walkers and SAC students will dismiss at 2:05 and students being picked up, and country bus routes will dismiss at 2:10. Please consider using the soccer field parking lots for drop off and pick up ease.
We are implementing the following measures to reduce the spread of disease in the school.
Face Coverings: We are following the state face covering/mask requirements. Types of face coverings can include a paper or disposable mask, a cloth mask, a neck gaiter, a scarf, a bandanna, a shield or a religious face covering. A face covering must cover the nose and mouth completely. We will work with students to build tolerance for face coverings by providing frequent breaks outside where masks can be taken off.
Frequent hand washing and cleaning: We are building extra time in the day for students to wash hands. All shared items and high touch surfaces will be cleaned after use. Extra cleaning will take place at the end of the school day.
Social Distancing: Classrooms are set up to provide 3 to 6 feet of distance between desks. For the In Person model, students will be kept at least 3 feet apart and if or when we move to the Hybrid model, we will move to 6 feet of distance between desks and students.
Classroom cohorts: Students will stay with their classroom cohorts from arrival to dismissal. Each classroom is assigned to a specific door. Grades K and 1 will eat in the cafeteria and all other grades will eat in the classrooms at their desks. Recess will take place as needed and groups will remain in small groups.
I believe children are adaptable and resilient. I am hopeful that with the above measures, we will be able to remain open for a long time and possibly for the school year.
We are looking forward to seeing you at Lincoln for your child’s Before School Interview. Our front entrance is under construction and currently closed, so please enter at Door #8, the north doors facing the parking lot.
