News and Reminders

  • Drop off Reminder: Students enter the building at 7:50, but may begin forming grade level lines on the porch at 7:45. Prior to this time, no staff members are available to supervise children (unless they are eating breakfast beginning at 7:30). When dropping off in the morning, please pull all the way forward to the stop sign. This helps us unload children in an efficient manner and avoid unnecessary tardies.
  • Pick up: Our car rider dismissal time is down to under 20 minutes! This is a celebration of your students who have learned their new numbers and our new procedures. Due to the earlier end time, please be sure to be on time. Students not picked up by 3:55 will be taken to the front office and will need to be signed out.
  • Updated Student Handbook: Updated student handbook are available here.
  • School Store: Tues and Thurs 7:45-8:00. T-shirts are available for $10 (cash or check made out to Blackshear)
  • Absences: Please send a note (doctor or parent) on the day your student returns to class. An email to the teacher will also be accepted.
  • Reading Night (Camp Read-a-Lot): Please RSVP for this fun family evening by completing this form. It will be on Tuesday 10/10 from 6:00-7:30.
  • Clinic Need: Our clinic is in big need of new, unopened packages of children's underwear. Donations are greatly appreciated and can be dropped off in the clinic at any time!
  • Digital Flyers: As previously mentioned, digital flyers through Peachjar will go live on October 17. After this date, only digital flyers will be used.
  • Book Character Parade (10/20): Please return the permission slip to your student's teacher indicating the book character they will portray. Students must carry either the book or a sign with the book title in the parade. Parents are invited to line the front sidewalks to cheer for students as they parade outside (9:30 am)
  • Awards Assemblies have been redesigned to better fit our shared Promise2Purpose vision. Twice this year (in December and May), we will invite parents to classrooms for awards assemblies. Every student will be celebrated for meeting a personal goal in alignment with the Klein ISD Profile of a Learner. We look forward to hearing all of our students explain why they are proud of themselves!

Staff Spotlight

Buffalo Brags

  • Administration has spent a lot of time in classrooms over the last few weeks and we are so impressed with your children! They are polite, eager to learn, and so smart! We cannot wait to help them bring to life the Profile of a Learner.
  • Kindergarten and Pre-K are now using standards-based grading in place of a traditional grading scale. We have two other classrooms piloting this in higher grade levels, and I want you to hear about it from the students. You can watch this video and this video for more information! We have so many teachers doing amazing things for your kids, and these are just two examples!
  • Car dismissal is down to 18-20 minutes in good weather! Way to go students for learning your numbers and this new process, and parents for displaying your numbers daily!
