Chanique Davis, Lake Alfred Elementary School
"I cannot say enough about this Lake Alfred Elementary art teacher. Chanique Davis’ eyes fill with joy as she teaches young children to use colors in a way they haven’t imagined before.
She goes beyond the curriculum.
Miss Davis forms young minds to be open to all beautiful possibilities and diversity.
You may remember her from last year, as she went viral for creating a door supporting the natural hair movement for black women.
(STORY https://www.abcactionnews.com/…/polk-co-teacher-teaches-lif…)
This year during Black History Month she took it up a couple levels teaching students about protective hair styles, the different and beautiful shades of black women and is also celebrating Tyler Perry’s accomplishments of opening a new film studio by decorating a second door with his infamous Madea character greeting children on the front.
Thank you for being such an inspiration in our children’s lives and making the world a little brighter." - Andrea Lyon, ABC Action News

Mandy Waymire, Bartow Elementary Academy
"I just want to share what a truly wonderful teacher Ms. Waymire is. She sincerely cares for the well being of her students and has consistently positive communication with their parents/ guardians.
Our daughter has always struggled with fully grasping the full content of math concepts- but under Ms. Waymire’s instruction, our child is just soaring in her understanding and being able to explain the processes and steps to complete her math and takes pride in her math work. Ms. Waymire has instilled such a love for learning math in her that it brings me joy.
Everyday, our daughter is challenged to “level up in adaptive math” on the Freckle homework sessions on the computer because she so wants to please Ms. Waymire and hear her encouragement and see her excitement.
When a child voluntarily creates their own math journal “just for fun” to keep and refer to at home to record math problems and steps to solve them- you know there is a strong inspiring teacher behind that.
Ms. Waymire is a one in a million, extremely gifted and talented teacher that has a true passion for teaching. We are so very blessed that she teaches our child. Words can not express my gratitude for your commitment to your calling, thank you Ms. Waymire." - Leah Pizana
