Traditional Calendars Open for Public Comment
GCS parents and community members are invited to voice their opinions on the district’s proposed traditional calendars for 2018-19. Click here to complete an online survey.
Three options were presented to the board at its Tuesday meeting. Each one meets the state requirements for school calendars, including start and end dates and number of instructional hours. Each one includes a start date of August 27, in keeping with state law that the first day of school is no sooner than the Monday closest to August 26. The end dates vary but all meet the requirement to end no later than the Friday closest to June 11 (not inclusive of inclement weather days). Districts must also schedule 185 instructional days or 1,025 hours of instruction covering at least nine months.

ARC Update
3rd Grade ARC “Bugs” Research Lab
- The 3rd Grade ARC Bugs Research Lab materials will begin arriving to schools the second week of December through the first week of January. Please be sure to count all boxes prior to signing for delivery. This is important to ensure intended materials were received at every school and to track missing items, if necessary. Please open the 3rd Grade “Bugs” Slick to view the materials in the lab. Contact Megan Rives with questions.
Middle School Custom Assessment Packs from ARC
- Middle schools will be receiving assessment packs from ARC that can be used to assess grade level standards. Click the Informational Text Assessment Packs link to see the what each grade level will receive. Every ELA teacher will receive a class set of 40 packs. The packs are not consumable and can be used at each teacher’s discretion. As with all material deliveries, be sure to count all boxes prior to signing for delivery. Please contact Kathy Saunders or India Smith with questions.
- At this point the intent is to bar-code them prior to distribution. However, at this point they have not shipped and I do not have a sample. I have requested shipment information and samples to us determine next steps with bar codes. Once this has been determined I will be sharing information regarding the cataloging and barcode distribution.
DLMI Update
You and your principals should have received the an email Friday from DPI. It was sent to everyone that has a DLMI log in.
