Una nota de la Sra. Larson/ A note from Mrs. Larson

Dear McKinley Community,

Here comes the rain! So excited that we are finally getting some much-needed rain. I have a love-dislike relationship with rain. I wish I could turn it on and off when the kids are not at school. Rainy day recess comes with lots of plans, add Covid into the mix, and we are looking at moving over 500 students in shifts outside under covered hallways to eat. We had our first experience this week, and it worked well.

This week brought the announcement of a bomb threat on a PCS campus. I wanted you to know that McKinley has a complete safety plan reviewed by local law enforcement every year. It addresses all types of emergencies. We also have monthly Fire and Earthquake drills.

When an emergency happens on campus, one of the most important things to do is wait for information coming from the school. Calling the office creates a lot of commotion and takes the office staff away from helping us serve the students. If a threat is happening on another campus, you will hear from the district office as their main priority is site-specific threats. Next week, I will send out a link to our safety plan so you can review this information.

I hope that you have a wonderful week.

Warm Regards,

Ani Larson

Please look for information from your teacher about Friday Halloween celebrations. Because we can't have a parade, we will put together a special slide show to send out.

Student Voice Forums

Recently, the Sonoma County Office of Education organized Student Voice Forums in an attempt to understand a variety of perspectives on our schools. In the same vein, PCS is organizing several secondary student voice forums to allow students to share their life experiences with our community of learners. Our first of several student forums will take place on November 16, 2021 at 6:00 PM and will highlight our Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) students. These forums are a great venue to hear directly from our BIPOC student community. If you are a student who is interested in sitting on the panel and sharing your thoughts, please contact our District Wellness Coordinator, Jimena Gomez, at
