Senior Shout-Outs!
From One GV Family to Another
At the end of week SEVEN of schooling from home, we asked one GV family how things were going and what advice they had for other families. Here’s what Landon Burdick (9th grade), Kallie Burdick (7th grade), and their mom, Samantha Tucker, had to say!
What's been the hardest part about learning online?
Landon: sometimes WiFi goes out and doesn't save your work.
Kallie: lack of communication
What's been the best thing about learning from home?
Kallie: with online work, you can go at your own pace
What is the coolest project you've gotten to work on online?
Landon: making homemade play dough and showing my classmates online
Kallie: either the virtual Washington DC tour or the video we are going to do in ELA about teaching our classmates how to do something step by step
What advice do you have for students or parents who are struggling with staying motivated with their school work during the quarantine?
Kallie: Be focused and don't try to do everything at once. It will lead to not having a lot to do. Also, if you can you should create a schedule and write it down.
Samantha: take it one day at a time. Spread your work throughout the week so each day is not overwhelming. Getting a routine is key so you don't get off track. Also, take the time to get to know your kids during this time, even if it’s during an hour lunch break or a "study hall." We are all so "busy" that I look at this as an opportunity to get closer to my children.
