New Staff Member Welcome!

Please welcome our new Registrar Laura Fine.

We are very excited to have her join our office team!

Recently, Tri-County Health Department (TCHD) issued a new public health order that relates to children 11 years old and younger. The order from TCHD is that those students wear a mask while in school and on a school bus.

This requirement will extend to all 27J elementary and middle school students. All 27J staff will also need to wear a mask while working with students in this age group.

The public health order goes into effect Monday, August 23, 2021. The updated implementation measures below go into effect on the same day. Please note, we will also begin sending out daily Student Health Screen messages starting on Tuesday, August 24. You can view the complete, updated Return to School plan here.

  • Masking: All children 2 years of age to and including 11 years of age, as well as all individuals working with or interacting with children 2 years of age to and including 11 years of age, must wear a Face Covering while in any indoor School Setting in Adams County according to the most recent Public Health Order. Please note, all students over the age of 2 years are required to wear face coverings on school buses, in alignment with CDC’s requirement for face masks on public transportation. In general, students and staff do not need to wear masks outside during gym or recess, but are encouraged to do so in crowded outdoor settings if they are not vaccinated and levels of virus transmission are high.

    • Elementary - All students and staff will be required to wear masks at school.

    • Middle School - All students and staff will be required to wear masks when in common areas (because they may be interacting with 11 year olds). Students will also be required to wear masks if in a classroom where 11 year olds are present.

    • High School - All 27J Schools’ staff will be wearing a mask if they have not been fully vaccinated. Masks are strongly encouraged— but not required — for students.

  • Health Screening: Starting August 24th, 2021 Student Health Screens will be sent out daily to all families, please fill this form out if your student has any symptoms of COVID-19 and wait for an email from your school regarding next steps and return dates.

Quarantining: Unvaccinated Students or staff in “high risk” cohorts (defined as after school athletics, band, choir and home exposures) will still be required to quarantine.

Thank you parents for your patience when dropping off students in the morning. Please remember to pull all the way forward (as far west in the hug and go lane as you can) before stopping & dropping students off. If you need to get out of your vehicle to help your student(s) out of the vehicle please park and use one of the crosswalks.

Did you know there are 3 entrances for your students this year? Students may enter the building through the main entrance, the entrance by the fire hydrant, and the west entrance.

Please remember that no staff is on duty until 7:35am. Please do not drop your children off before this time.

Thank you!

Bus Riders

We have a large number of students going to the bus in the afternoons without masks. REMEMBER no mask = no bus and parents WILL be called to come and pick their students up from the office.

Parents are more than welcome to send in a box of disposable masks to keep in the classroom for their students. Please make this arrangement with your child's teacher.

Water bottles

Please send your student to school each day with a water bottle.

School Hours

School doors will open at 7:35, as buses will be dropping students off, parents may also choose to drop students off at this time, as well.

The official start of school is at 7:50am, any student arriving after 7:50am will be considered “tardy.” This will also free up some congestion in our drop off zone, so there is a wider window for drop off, but also allows quality time for students to enjoy their peers, eat breakfast, and not be rushed to settle in for the learning day.

Students’ days will end at 3:30pm. It is important to note that our playground will be closed before and after school, as there will not be any staff on duty.

***Preschool’s schedule will be slightly different. Please wait for communication from your child’s teacher.

Free Breakfast & Lunch for ALL Students

The 2021-2022 Free and Reduced Application is now available online. Submit your application today!

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has extended several waivers through June 30, 2022. This will allow school nutrition programs to serve FREE meals to ALL students for the 2021-22 school year.

Although meals will be free of charge this school year, a new free and reduced meal application must be submitted each school year per household.

Filling out a free and reduced meal application each year will benefit not only your family but also Brantner Elementary. The free and reduced meal application determines whether a family qualifies to have transportation and any school & sports fees waived.

If you are unable to complete the online form, a paper application for free and reduced meals is available at the Nutrition Services Office (630 S 8th Ave., Brighton)

Parent Visitors

At the present moment, visitors will need to wear a mask or show a valid vaccine card at the office, while on school property. We would absolutely love for parents to volunteer, however, ask that all sessions are pre-planned with your child’s teacher and scheduled, so that we can minimize the amount of outside adults in classrooms.

At this time, we can not accommodate parents coming in and eating lunch in our cafeteria; however, we are anticipating bringing this practice back, and will let families know when this becomes available. Parents are certainly welcome to continue to bring in lunch and drop it with our office staff and we will see to it that your child receives it on their way to their lunch. For specific lunch times, see your child’s teacher’s Back to School Information document.
