February 2022

Headteacher's Comment

Well that is the first month of 2022 complete and we enter February and near the end of the first half term.

We have managed to get most things completed during the month of January, including Assertive Mentoring, class assemblies and after school clubs.

Something that has come to my attention recently has been the way that some parents have approached issues in school. Recently, there have been a few incidents where adults in school have been spoken to in an inappropriate way - shouted at, aggressive tones and even threats regarding school etc. I want to put it out there that we do not tolerate this sort of behaviour at Choppington Primary School and when I am made aware of it I will be asking for a discussion with the parents and carers in question. We believe in treating everyone with respect and this is the messages that we teach the children. I expect that you will treat us with the respect that we treat you and your children.

If you have an issue to discuss regarding this or any other matter then do not hesitate to contact me.

Hopefully the rest of this academic year will continue uninterrupted and we can continue with school life as normal and begin to invite you all in to share your children's success and learning further.

Regards

Mr D. Nelson

Covid-19 Absences

We are still having cases in school for both children and staff.

A reminder regarding the process.

If your child tests positive for Covid-19 they are to self isolate for 5 days. If on day 5 and 6 they have a negative LFT then thay are allowed back in to school. We will need to see evidence of the LFT test please.

If a member of your household tests positive for Covid-19 then we ask that you LFT your children every day for 5 days. If they are negative they are allowed in school as normal - again we would like to see proof of the LFTs please.

If your child is feeling poorly as a precaution we would advise you to carry out an LFT on them.

We are aware that this could be an inconvenience but we need to continue to follow the guidelines to ensure we keep everyone connected with school safe.

Parent's Forum

Thursday, Feb. 10th, 9-10am

Eastgate

England

We are holding our next Parent's Forum meeting on Thursday 10th February at 9am. This will take place in the Community Building.

We will discuss the results of the Parent Questionnaire, parental engagement ideas and safeguarding.

If you are unable to attend and would like to have your views heard then please contact myself or Mrs Stephenson to discuss.

Queen's Platinum Jubilee

As you are all probably aware this year is the Queen's Platinum Jubilee this summer. As part of the celebrations schools are able to put in another Training Day. Our extra day is Friday 18th February. School will be closed on this day.

Therefore, Thursday 17th February is the last day of this half term. We will finish at normal time for this day.

Absence Reporting

If your child is going to be absent from school for any reason please make sure that you contact school to let us know. We have an answerphone service (option 1) which has been set up to help with this. Please leave a message and if we need to call back for more information then we will do so.

It is your responsibility to inform school if your child is going to be absent or late.

Class Assembly

As we haven't been able to invite you all into school to celebrate the children's topic work we have recorded class assemblies. These are nearly ready to go and will be shared via Class Dojo, with a link to YouTube.

A reminder that these are only shared with those who have permission. Do not post anything related from the recording on social media please.

World Book Day

This year we will continue to celebrate World Book Day. It is on Thursday 3rd March, the first week back after half term. This year we are asking the children to come in dressed as their favourite book character, no superheroes or princesses please.

There will be prizes on offer for the best costumes.
