Apollo 13
By Maddie Burgiss
Hello today I am going to teach you about Apollo 13. The question that inspired me to do this lesson is what happened to Apollo 13 and why it caused them to not complete their original mission? Apollo 13 launched on April 11, 1970. Everything was going as planned to go to the moon when Lovell notices a gas leak. They had to give up the original mission to land on the moon and have a new mission of getting home safely. The whole world was watching on live t.v. Hoping that they would survive. These three astronauts Jame A. Lovell, John L. Swigert Jr. and Fred W. Haise and all the people who worked at NASA decided to land in the ocean. As planned they landed in the ocean on April 17 1970. The whole world was scared they had died from the landing but surprisingly they all lived. Iearned so much from researching this lesson. One fact that I learned was that they landed in the ocean on a different day that they took off from earth. The answer to the beginning question is the gas leak caused Apollo 13 to come home soon and they couldn't complete their original mission to land on the moon with such little gas remaining. The resources I used were ipi.ursa.edu and en.m.wikipedia.org. Thanks so much for looking at my s'more bye.
