Message from Dr. Mazzoni
Read Across America
A message from Mrs. Wendt… In preparation for “Read Across America” Week, (Feb. 25th – March 1st) student council members will be reading to students in Pre-k to 3rd grade for Dr. Seuss Day (Friday, March 1st). Each student council member selects a class and reads a Dr. Seuss book dressed in a character from that story. There is also a student who dresses as the Cat in the Hat and visits each classroom during the readings. All classes Pre-k to 3 are given Dr. Seuss hats or activity packets.
The reading time for this event will be from 8:50 am to 9:15 am.
International Day
I would like to thank the staff members whom showed an interest to be a committee member for the annual International Day. The initial committee meeting will be on Wednesday, February 27th at 3:30 pm in the library.
THE 8th Annual 2019 Youth Holocaust / Genocide Awareness Award Competition
Kidsbridge, the Allison Vandal Legacy program and the NJ State Commission on Holocaust Education are pleased to announce the nomination process for a statewide Youth Holocaust/Genocide Awareness Award Competition. We invite you, or any of your staff, to nominate a student who has demonstrated an altruistic act of generating awareness, empathy and action for Holocaust/genocide education (see attachment).

Educational News
Take a close look at how Tomlinson speaks about flexible grouping within the classroom rather than the practice of tracking students; high, medium, and low for all groups. Tomlinson states,
"Effective differentiation requires use of flexible grouping patterns so that students
consistently work in a variety of groups based on readiness, interest, learning preference,
random assignment, teacher choice, and student choice."
