What's new in kindergarten? 10.14.16

This Week...

This week in kindergarten we learned about bats. We learned that there are many myths and misconceptions about bats. Many people think that all bats will turn into vampires...we learned that there is a bat called a vampire bat, but vampires are just make believe. We also learned about the words: nocturnal, mammal, and echolocation. Ask your child to tell you what they learned about these words.

In Readers Workshop, we learned that we have "super powers" just like Spiderman and Super Man. We used our "pointer power" to track the words we read. We know that each word takes just one tap...even the "kryptonyte" words with more than one syllable.

In Writers Workshop, we began our narrative unit by recording ourselves talking about our field trip experience. We made sure to include who, where, and what happened. I was very impressed with their ability to talk! :) We then started telling our story through pictures.

FES Tiger Trot FUN-Raiser

FES PTO is thrilled to announce our FALL 2016 FUN-Raiser as a Tiger Trot on Friday, November 4th DURING THE SCHOOL DAY! Our Tiger Trot is a 30 minute FUN run/jog/walk/ dance to promote healthy activity and raise money for the PTO through individual student sponsorship. ALL students received a t-shirt. Please have your student wear this shirt on Friday, September 30 to kick off event awareness. Please also wear on Spirit Days: Friday, October 28th and the LAST Friday of each month throughout the school year. For extra Spirit Day fun bring in a dollar, or any amount you are comfortable donating, and wear a hat on Spirit Days!

Your child brought home a packet that included an instruction sheet, permission slip, 5 sponsor forms, 5 blank envelopes and 5 FES pre-addressed envelopes. We hope you mail the enclosed envelopes to family and friends to bring in at least $5 per student. All sponsor donations need to be turned in by October 28th please. With your help this could be our BIGGEST school FUN-Raiser of the year!!! Together we can build a brighter future for children in our community. Thank you in advance for your support!
