EMS S2 Week 1 Announcements
Happy Beginning to the Second Semester!
Congratulations to Mr. Branden Hoefert: Winner of Estacada's Excellent Educator Award
Our very own Science and Engineering teacher, Mr. Hoefert, is the recipient of Estacada School District's Excellent Educator Award for Semester 1. He earns this honor because of his approach to teaching, his commitment to improving student outcomes at EMS, his participation in extracurricular duties, and his demeanor to strengthen the EMS system. Please congratulate Mr. Hoefert when you see him next. Go Tigers!
MAP Evaluations Complete: Ask About Progress
Our Winter MAP (Measurement of Academic Progress) evaluations are complete. Students have finished Reading, Math, and Science (8th Grade) assessments. Please send an e-mail or call your student's Math and/or Language Arts teachers to talk with these professionals about your student's growth or regression. Or, please contact me, Mr. Hargrave, with any questions or concerns. We are using this MAP data to intervene and enrich our students' experiences here at EMS so their quality of education improves. Go Tigers!

Tim Brown, National PLC Figurehead, Challenges Our EMS Teachers
On Friday, January 26, Tim Brown (retired Teacher and Principal), a figurehead of professional development for Professional Learning Communities, came to Estacada to promote a spirit of inquiry and to challenge our teachers' thinking regarding our students and their learning. The message is clear: Professionals, in any teaching role, need to collaborate to improve student outcomes. We have work to do, together, to support learning. We are on our way and already have made tremendous gains in learning outcomes!
Estacada Middle School
Our mission is to equip each student with the necessary skills to be competent, resourceful, and successful.
