Newsletter - Term 1 Week 4
Friday, 3rd March 2023
From the Principal
What a busy day we all had yesterday at the school athletic sports. Thank you to the fantastic turn out of parents we had who came and supported their child and others. What was also wonderful to see is that we had 95% of students attending school today - which is really encouraging as often it is these type of events where kids are absent the most.
As mentioned in last weeks newsletter we are working with Active Southland around how we can run inclusive events that are engaging for all. I am aware that not all parents understand the rationale behind this yet but we will offer the opportunity for parents to come and attend a session with our Active Southland facilitator to go through this with parents. This will be a great opportunity for parents to seek clarification and rationale around why we want to make our activities fun and engaging for all. What was great to see today was kids being busy and having fun at the same time - using athletics as the context.
Nga mihi,
Simon Bell

CLASSROOM HAPPENINGS...
ROOM 6
The term seems to be going quickly. Room 6 has been busy this week doing our Whanau (Family) Art for our Mihis. We have drawn the members of our whanau and coloured them using chalk pastels and then again using water coloured pencils. It was fun using the two different types of media (and quite messy). We have also done a colouring-in competition for the A&P show that is coming up this weekend. All of this amongst our ‘normal’ classroom learning programme. Have a lovely weekend, from Room 6.
Room 8
Room 8 had a great day yesterday at athletics. We have also learnt a new maths game which is fun to play with a partner.
