WEEKLY UPDATE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT, DR. SHIBLER

Dear RPS Stakeholders:

Prior to spring break, due to a spike in cases, we implemented the requirement for elementary students to wear masks while on the playground. This Friday, I will revisit whether we will continue with this practice and base my decision on case data. We will notify you whether there is a change in this practice.

As far as year-end high school activities such as prom and graduation, we are continuing to follow the MDHHS closely for compliance information. Please understand there is a high level of planning for these events so we are holding out as long as possible to make a decision but in the interest of allowing time to properly plan the events, we will need to finalize our decisions soon.

We have not let up on mitigation and sanitizing strategies in school facilities and on buses, and we will continue to maintain these important protocols to minimize the spread of illness.

Enrollment for summer learning opportunities is open with several remediation and enrichment options. Please take a moment to check out the many opportunities here. We will also launch a book bus this summer, which will travel through neighborhoods to promote reading.

In summary, at this time, we plan to continue with face-to-face learning with the understanding I will make decisions based on data.

M-STEP TESTING SCHEDULE BEGINS APRIL 27TH

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Our Spring testing continues with M-STEP starting on Monday, April 27th. The M-STEP testing schedule looks a bit different for each grade and the details are listed below. Results from these tests will help shape our instruction for the 2021-2022 school year.

Testing days can feel long relative to normal school days and we will be emphasizing rest and healthy meals. We would also encourage limited electronics during the days leading up to testing. Cell phones and other electronics must be in backpacks and off during testing.
