The Hungate Echo
Sherburn Hungate Weekly News - Autumn Term - Issue 13
A word from Mr Broom
Rehearsals for our festive productions are also well underway and I must say, you're in for a real treat if you're coming to one of the nativity performances. Thank you to the staff who are working incredibly hard to make this Christmas tradition a huge hit.
Y6 Uniform and Responsibilities Reminder
- Not wearing the red Y6 tie
- Wearing inappropriate footwear (fashion boots, trainers, etc.)
- Not completing tasks involving school diaries.
It's really important that our oldest children in school demonstrate and model the expected behaviour of all our pupils, and things need to change for some of our Y6 pupils.

School Attendance
It's important that children attend school regularly and at Sherburn Hungate we recognise that excellent attendance leads to excellent achievement. Fact!
Congratulations to our Year 2 children who are our attendance champions in school this week with 100%!
Our average attendance this week is 96.2% which is back above the national average. Well done everyone!
We have a small number of children whose attendance is well below the national expectations. These children are known as persistently absent when their attendance falls below 90%. I will be making telephone calls to parents of these children.
Thank you for your continued support with our attendance drive. It is really appreciated.
Infection Control Information
If your child suffers diarrhoea or vomiting you will be called and asked to collect your child as soon as practicable. It is vital you co-operate with this to prevent the spread of infection to others. Prevention is always best. Please remind children that thorough hand washing and drying is the most important factor in preventing the spread of such illness. Although hands may look clean, germs picked up by touching solid items and surfaces can be passed on when you touch something, someone or food. Hand hygiene is important, even if you are not unwell, and also helps to prevent the spread of other conditions such as coughs, colds, impetigo and threadworm.
