Tropical Cyclone Gabriella: Plans and Distant Learning
It looks as though Auckland is in for another weather battering with Tropical Cyclone Gabriella (TCG) hitting NZ shores on Sunday, moving into Auckland over Sunday-Tuesday. From what I have read, meteorologists are not able to predict an exact day and time when TCG will hit. We have emergency plans in place which are guided by MoE directives, similar to the school closure a couple of weeks ago. At the moment we are open on Monday-Tuesday and beyond, but we could be closed at short notice. Please check emails, seesaw and facebook regularly over the weekend as there could be a notice from Macleans Primary updating the school community on the situation and/or stating we are closed.
We initially offer distant learning through our school website. Go to the school website (www.macleansprimary.school.nz) and under the main tab 'PROGRAMMES'' at the top, scroll down to 'distant learning'. See pic. above. There are some learning activities and ideas for Y1-Y6 available, both online and pdf. There is also a link to the MoE learning at home website from the Macleans Primary site.
We also recommend the website Sparklers as source of home learning ideas.

If the school is closed for longer than a few days, Individual classes are all well prepared for distant learning. So watch this space. In the meantime, there is no individual learning from classes. Seesaw and google are our two main sources of individual class distant learning and will be activated if needed. For now, however, please refer to the Macleans Primary school website for all your distant learning needs.
Of course, a pencil & paper and a book or three is all we need to manage learning activities ourselves in many cases.
We are all here to help so please reach out to me (Principal Matthew Cooke), DP's Hazel Deutschmann (Y4-Y6) and Angelique Wendzich (Y1-Y3) or your class teacher.

Kia kaha everyone and stay safe. Here's hoping we are all together on Monday-Tuesday :))))

PTA COOKIE DOUGH FUNDRaiser INFO. SENT HOME TODAY IN HARD COPY (please check your child's bag) Sign-Up today!
Today we launched our frozen cookie dough fundraiser. Funds raised will be used to help support our school and our PTA.
We are raising money to support the school with ongoing resources across all departments. The funds raised by our school community make a huge difference in enhancing the overall school environment and educational outcomes of all our students.
We have partnered online fundraising company Go Raise It. Go Raise It specialise in working with schools and clubs to maximise their fundraising efforts.
Each student will be able to setup their very own fundraising page on the website. By running our product sales campaign online, it makes it super easy for everyone - no more door knocking, everyone can fundraise from home - no need to worry about handling all that cash and bringing it in.
Each fundraiser simply signs up for their own fundraising page - sends it out to collect sales electronically, and Go Raise It will manage all the payments, ordering and reporting on who sold what and who bought what - making it super easy for us to run a hassle free pick up day and send the right products home with the right fundraisers. We then get paid our profits at the end of the fundraiser.
You can check out all the info and sign up for a fundraising page yourselves here:
