In Memory of Lauren Miller Dobbins
Lauren had Pectus Excuvatum, the most common congenital defority of the anterior wall of the chest. She had surgery to correct this as a child, having ribs removed and a steel plate inserted and then removed. As an adult, the condition did not fully correct itself and Lauren's lungs and heart were being squished. There is no effective non-operative strategies that can correct sever pectus excavatum, making the surgery necessary.
While Lauren's friends were aware of the risks, it never occured to us that there would be anything other than a happy outcome. Many Delta Zeta's are choosing to engrave bracelets, charms and necklaces with "Breathe" in remembrance of Lauren and her fight for life. I appreciate all of the support emotionally as well as for this special trunk show.
Every dollar of my profit will go directly to Lauren's widow, Tyler Dobbins. Tyler is left with medical bills, housing expenses (the surgery was in Arizona and the Dobbins family lives in Charlotte), etc.
