Parents learned the components of PCR-3's Signs of Suicide program, developed skills to continue conversations with students at home and engaged as partners in suicide prevention.
Students Checking In and Out
If your student will be absent from school or your student will leave during the school day for an appointment or any other reason, a Parent/Guardian should call the office early in the morning. This helps the school verify the absence or prepare a DISMISSAL SLIP for your student. The student will need to pick up their slip from the Welcome Center. This will allow them to show the dismissal slip to their teacher to leave class. All students must sign out at the Welcome Center.
Students should NOT just leave the building without first checking out.
When students return they need to check-in at the Welcome Center, and if they were at an appointment, they need to provide a Dr.’s excuse for the absence to be verified.
Platte City Drivers Testing Day
Testing hours are THURSDAYS from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, and 12:30 PM - 4:00 PM.
All testing is to be completed by 3:50 with the last test starting no later than 3:25.
Any questions concerning the drivers testing process, please call 816.206.5799 during regular business hours.

For students who are planning on attending a college, university, or technical school after high school, it is essential to begin preparing early. Part of that preparation includes knowledge of admission requirements and course expectations to plan for appropriate courses in high school. These courses should be part of every student's ICAP and enrollment requests. In order to assist with this planning, eligible students are invited to attend ONE of the following college fairs:
Wednesday, October 9:
Missouri Western State University College Fair
MWSU Campus
Tuesday, October 22:
Kansas City College Fair
KC Convention Center
Students will leave Platte County High School at 8:30 a.m. and will return to the school by 11:00 a.m. If you would like your child to attend one of these opportunities, please complete the attached appropriate permission form and return it to the PCHS Counseling Center by Friday, September 27, 2019, so that transportation can be arranged. Only students who have returned their form and have met the following criteria by the permission form deadline will be allowed to attend:
- Be a Sophomore or Junior
- Have an interest in attending a college fair to prepare for choices beyond high school.
- Have a grade of D or higher in all of their classes.
- Has 90% or higher attendance for this school year
- Is in good standing (ie--no ISS or OSS)
- Have registered to attend the fair. Students will need a copy of their personal barcode from the online registration to get on the bus.

Multiple colleges and universities will be represented at this fair, and we’re inviting all sophomores and juniors to attend. Both experiences are during the school day and transportation will be provided. If you have any questions about this college fair experience, please contact the PCHS Counseling Center or visit the college fair websites.

Bullying and Safety Concerns
Safety is one of our district’s top priorities and to help safeguard our school community, our district is now using SafeSchools Alert, a tip reporting service that allows students, staff, and parents to submit safety concerns to our administration.
You and your child can easily report tips on bullying, harassment, or any safety issue you're concerned about through SafeSchools Alert.
Every tip SafeSchools Alert receives about our district is immediately logged in the system and our administration is notified so that they can investigate and take appropriate action. And, tips may also be submitted anonymously if you prefer.
Together, using SafeSchools Alert, we can make our district a safer place to learn!
