SOPHIA GAMBILL NAMED A NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FINALIST
CONGRATULATIONS to Sophia Gambill, who was officially named a National Merit Scholarship Program finalist. Her incredible scores on the PSAT last year along with her academic record have allowed her to advance to the final round of 15,000 finalists nationwide. To our knowledge, Sophia is the first Clearview student in our history to become a National Merit Finalist. Congratulations, Sophia!!
CLEARVIEW REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT, SOPHIA GAMBILL, NAMED CANDIDATE IN U.S. PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM
Sophia Gambill, a graduating senior at Clearview Regional High School (Mullica Hill, NJ), has been named one of more than 4,500 candidates in the 2021 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. The candidates were selected from nearly 3.6 million students expected to graduate from U.S. high school in the year 2021.
Inclusion in the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program is one of the highest honors bestowed upon graduating high school seniors. Scholars are selected on the basis of superior academic and artistic achievements, leadership qualities, strong character and involvement in community and school activities.
The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964 by Executive Order of the President to recognize some of our nation’s most distinguished graduating seniors for their accomplishments in many areas: academic success, leadership, and service to school and community. It was expanded in 1979 to recognize students demonstrating exceptional scholarship and talent in the visual, creative, and performing arts. In 2015, the program was expanded once again to recognize students who demonstrate ability and accomplishment in career and technical fields. Annually, up to 161 U.S. Presidential Scholars are chosen from among that year’s senior class, representing excellence in education and the promise of greatness in America’s youth. If circumstances permit, all Scholars are invited to Washington, DC in June for the National Recognition Program, featuring various events and enrichment activities and culminating in the presentation of the Presidential Scholars Medallion during a White House-sponsored ceremony.
A distinguished panel of educators will review these submissions and select approximately 600 semifinalists in early April. The Commission on Presidential Scholars, a group of up to 32 eminent citizens appointed by the President, will select the finalists, and the U.S. Department of Education will announce the Scholars in May.
If circumstances permit, scholars will be invited to Washington, DC, for several days in June to receive the Presidential Scholars Medallion at a recognition ceremony and to participate in events and activities.
We are so proud of Sophia and wish her the best of luck!

To our entire District Teaching Staff: to earn an Athletic Scholarship, grades were a major factor. Without your support over the last six years, they too would not have been as successful. Thank you for your dedication in the classroom!

Hoagies 4 Hope 2021!
Neither the Pandemic nor a Sunday morning Snowstorm could stop the Clearview Community from stepping up big to help make Hoagies 4 Hope 2021 a success. As a result of your support and incredible generosity, we were able to raise over $15,000 this year to help 2 families within our community, bringing our 7 year total to over $133,000.
Of course this could not have been accomplished without the hard work and dedication of our student chairs for the event, Gavin Corley and Mary Moraca. Gavin and Mary, along with their Hoagies 4 Hope Committee members secured several community sponsors and sold over 870 hoagies.
Additionally, without our cafeteria staff we would not have been able to even run the event this year. They stepped up big time to help our local families.
Thank you to the entire Clearview Community for your continued support of this event and we look forward to another successful year of Hoagies 4 Hope in 2022 that will hopefully have our students back in the cafeteria making the hoagies.
Sincerely,
Christina Boody, Kathleen Edwards, Paul Sommers & Mike Wolk, Jr.
