CMSS MONDAY MESSAGE...
October 8, 2018
RESPECT, EXPLORE, ACHIEVE, LEAD
The Spirit Committee is sponsoring a Chili Cook-off and fall dessert competition on Friday, October 12. Bring your entry to the KIVA that morning. At lunch, purchase tickets for $5 to eat and vote on the best chili and the best dessert. All proceeds will go towards Space Camp scholarships. If you are entering the competition, please e-mail Mary Beth West
(mary.west@ ps.k12.ar.us) with the name of your dish by Wednesday, October 10. You do not have to enter a dish to purchase a ticket, enjoy lunch, and vote for the best!
Message from the Boss...
No PLC's the week of October 8th or October 15th. This will give you the opportunity to get grades and report cards completed.
Please remind your students about Spirit Week next week. I will be tweeting it out as well and sending Remind to parents. I would like good participation. We need some happiness throughout the building.
I want to apologize for all the negativity on Facebook and the situations that have occured at our school. With the position we are in it is not advantageous of us to comment on social media. We have to protect the rights of all the students. It pains me and breaks my heart all the negativity that comes from social media. We have to rise above it and know that we are doing the right thing for ALL students. We are an AMAZING school! We are AMAZING teachers! We are SOMEONE'S HERO! Keep your heads held high and do not allow the 10% to overtake the 90%! Do what is right for ALL!
I hope everyone has a restful and blessed weekend!
**Field Trips need to be requested as normal. Please make sure the correct date format is used. For example, 01/01/2019. We need accurate counts for students and teachers. Please do not estimate. We need to be notified at least a week in advance of any changes to the number of riders.
**We are only able to provide five drivers per day. Once we have reached our limit for a particular day, field trips will be closed.
**Trips should be scheduled to leave no earlier than 8:30AM. ALL trips should return to the school before 2:00PM. These times will allow for potential traffic delays.
**Incidental fees (i.e. Entrance or admittance fees) for drivers will be be covered by the school or a receipt(s) from the driver to be reimbursed will be sent to the building principal for processing.
**If more buses are requested than are needed and a driver has already been scheduled for the trip, the school will be responsible for the pay of the extra driver.
**Teachers/Sponsors are responsible for the behavior of the students while on the trip. Students and staff need to remain seated while the bus is moving.
**Teachers/Sponsors need to check the bus at the end of the trip to make sure their students have not left personal items, such as backpacks, instruments, cell phones, or trash on the bus.
Here is the link for the Teacher Handbook. Let me know if you have any questions.
Report Card Information
With the first marking period ending on October 12th, the following schedule should be followed:

Report cards will be handed out to parents at Parent/Teacher conferences.
If any report card is needed before that time for an early conference, the teacher should let the registrar know so it can be made available.

CMSS STAFF FLU CLINIC
We had a great response last year when the health department offered to bring flu vaccines to the buildings, for staff members, so they've offered to do so again this year.
