Thank you!

Thank you all for a wonderful first week of school! It was beyond exciting to have our students, old and new, back in the building with so much joy!

MAP Testing

Each year, our Kindergarten - 5th grades participate in MAP Testing. MAP, or the Measure of Academic Progress, is a computerized adaptive test which helps teachers, parents, and administrators improve learning for all students and make informed decisions to promote a child's academic growth.

During the first weeks of school, students will participate in two MAP testing sessions to assess Reading and Mathematics.

When taking the MAP test, the difficulty of each question is based on how well a student answers all the previous questions. As the student answers correctly, questions become more difficult. If the student answers incorrectly, the questions become easier.

Although the tests are not timed, it usually takes students about one hour to complete each test.

Students will repeat the tests two more times during the year to continually assess student progress and adapt learning as needed.

This week's testing schedule is below.

Wednesday, Aug. 28th - 1st, 2nd, 3rd Grade take MAP Reading

Thursday, Aug. 29th - Kindergarten, 4th and 5th Grade take MAP Reading

Friday, Aug. 30th - 1st, 2nd, 3rd Grade take MAP Math

Tuesday, Sept. 2nd - Kindergarten, 4th and 5th Grade take MAP Math

Below is a Parent Guide which will provide more information about how our teachers use MAP testing information.

Parent Portal

Access to your child’s grades and attendance through PowerSchool is provided to you as another form of communication with teachers and administrators. This process will help all of us in our efforts to support your child’s education. Please read the attached form (below) carefully, fill out the spaces provided, sign and date it. Return the registration form to the front office staff. Present a photo ID, preferably a driver’s license, so a copy can be made.

A few reminders...

  • Please do not unload your child from the driver's side in the mornings. This is a safety concern as parents are moving through traffic in the left lane.

  • Do not come in to the school via the front, one-way driveway. Please go around the car loop.

  • Do not park in the front driveway. This is for emergency vehicles only. Please park in the parking lot.
