PEEK AT THE WEEK! GSRP Staff News
October 10th-14th
Communication is Key!
Reminders!
- Please check you school email daily! Staff are expected to reply to parent emails within 24 hours. Please respond to emails from the office as well. We need to know that you have received the information in the email. A simple "got it" is an acceptable and welcome reply. Jodie, Jennifer, and Joy should be all set up now. Please see me if you are not getting emails from me or others.
- Make sure you are reading the GSRP Staff Newsletter that is sent to you each week electronically. There is also a hard copy in your mailbox each week and in the lounge. There is important information and dates that you are expected to be aware of.
- Send copies of your weekly classroom newsletters to Susan and Carrie- you are all great at this! Thank you
- Make sure you are registered for Aesop! Our office has been working with Sharon Hazard in the personnel office to get Associate Teachers and Special Ed staff (Joy Howard) added to the system. Remember that blue pre-arranged absence forms must be filled out and sent to Natalie for personal days. Aesop is then used for sick days and you are encouraged to put in for a sub as soon as you know you will not be coming in. Thank you with your help with this. If you have trouble with Aesop, please email Sharon Hazard and copy Carrie and I as well. You all know how important it is to have staff in place to supervise our little ones getting of and on buses. We always appreciate a head up through text as well!
Upcoming Professional Development
The PD offered this Friday, October 14th for GSRP staff is on the topic of anecdotal notes. There are both morning and afternoon sessions. I emailed all of you the information and link to register. If you attend, you will be paid and you can use the hours toward required child care licensing hours. Remember that It is the responsibility of both classroom teachers to be proficient in the process of taking anecdotal notes and uploading them into TS GOLD. Although this training is not mandatory, it is very highly recommended. I will be attending the morning session. I hope to see you there!
First District Jeans Day
The first district Jeans Day will be held this Friday, October 14th. It will be part of the "Pink Out" event to support our local American Cancer Society Chapter. GSRP will be having our $5 Jean Day on this Thursday, October 13th instead of Friday. This will allow our whole staff to participate. Please give your $5 donation to Carrie on Thursday if you choose to participate and support this great cause.
Office hours...
The GSRP office is open to the public daily from 8:00-4:30. Carrie arrives at 7:30 and leaves at 4:30. We are trying a new schedule to ensure that she is able to get her daily lunch hour. I will be taking my lunch earlier and Carrie will take her lunch between 11:45 and 12:45. I will cover the office during this time unless I am out of the building. In that case, we will ask another staff member to cover. We are trying this on a trial basis and hoping that it works out. So far, so good!
Cohort I Positive Behavior Climate - Session I Reminders
I was able to attend the make-up session of the Positive Behavior Cohort I at GISD last Friday. It was good to get caught up with what all of you heard at the training on August 30th. I attended the training last year as a K-12 behavior coach for the district, so much of it was familiar and nice to see that Davison GSRP has quite a head start on the process of implementing a Positive Behavior Climate.
Here are a few reminders from the first session:
- The Behavior Incident Referral form must be completed for MAJOR behaviors only. A copy need to go to your ECS, either Heather or Tosca, and a copy also need to be filed in the GSRP office behavior file.
- The MAJOR VS MINOR behavior matrix is an excellent resource and should be followed closely to determine which behaviors need to be reported via a BIR form. If you did not receive a copy of the matirix at the training, please see me.
- ASQ-III and ASQ-SE- A reminder that the students that scored low on the ASQ-III or high on the ASQ-SE need to be re-screened. Their scores will need to be recorded online sometime in March or April. Trina Burnham will be giving us further direction with this.
- Make sure that you have communicated scores to parents and have recorded this information online by October 28th. A sample parent feedback letter can be found in the ASQ-3 online User's Guide.
Halloween Parties and Snacks
All staff should have received an email last Friday regarding the Halloween Party and what will be on the menu for that day. We will not be asking parents to send in food donations. We have a budget for snacks and food and we will utilize this on party day as we have done in the past. We have to be very careful about food allergies and asking parents for any kind of donations. Our program is grant funded and intended to fully fund our students without asking for help from parents or doing fundraisers, etc. Doing so can result in risking losing funding. I will be ordering online and the food will be delivered to you by party day. Please remind your parents of this in your newsletters. If you do have a parent that is upset about not being able to donate, please see me for ideas.
