Ratios
The Mullet Lesson @ Southwest Middle School (6th grade)
What an Engaging Activity!
Students in 6th grade at Southwest middles used mathematics to investigate the "Mullety" someone was using ratios.
Students were introduced to pictures of Mullets. They were asked to define and explain what constituted a "real" mullet. Once they defined what a mullet was, they were asked to use mathematics to determine the "mulletness" of a person and to use that same mathematical tool to determine which of the pictures provided to them was the "mulletiest" person.
And so it was that ratios where chosen as the tool by students. Love it when it is THEIR idea!
Bravo Mrs. Aldridge and Miss Dillon!
