News You Can Use!
October 10, 2016 Ms. Postema & Mrs. Blankenship
Monday is a student holiday!
Curriculum Update
Writing- Non-fiction writing will begin next week. The students will use their knowledge of the Civil War to kick off this unit.
Word Study- We will begin our next roots list the week of October 17th.
Social Studies- The students will take the Reconstruction test Wednesday. Their notes will count as their study guide. An emphasis on the Bill of Rights, Amendments 13, 14, and 15, sharecropping, Freedman's Bureau, Jim Crow Laws, and the role of Andrew Johnson as president would be really good topics to study!
Math - On Monday the students will take a daily grade on comparing decimal numbers (in word, expanded, and standard form) and rounding decimal numbers. We will then be adding and subtracting decimal numbers and then multiplying and dividing decimal numbers. The math district assessment will be on Wednesday.
Science - We will continue our unit on genetics and have a daily grade on Friday. There are two Quizlets set up to help study the vocabulary.
Please mark your calendars....
