Wakeland Band and Color Guard
FanPledge Fundraiser
Fanpledge Information from Mr. Smith
This year are focusing on a different type of fundraiser to help us offer the best possible band experience for our students at Wakeland. We want to give them more opportunities to be competitive by bringing in clinicians, designers and other master teachers.
These students deserve the best that Frisco has to offer and our goal is to set that standard. But with that we need your help. We are starting this fundraiser very quickly to get out during our competitive season so our families, friends, donors can see us in action and watch our students at their personal best.
Our goals for this fundraiser are to help our students by:
- Lowering band registration fees for Winter season and future marching seasons
- Lower the cost for our potential out of state trip next year
- Bring in clinicians to help all students in the spring
- Redesign the interior of the trailer and rewrap the exterior with new designs
- Focus on enhancing the students over all experience
Our visions for this program are centered around the students and how we can all raise the bar and expectations of those around us.
Below is more information pertaining to the set up from Steve Kopp, Ways & Means Chair for the Booster Association.
A Note from the Boosters
Note from Wakeland Band Ways & Means Chairperson:
This is a new fundraising event (using FanPledge.com) that the Wakeland Band has not tried in the past; however, many local Bands have really raised a lot of money using this event/program. Please note that the Guard is and has always been a very important part of the “Band” and as I refer to the Band, please note that is Wind, Percussion, and Guard.
I ask that you please support this new FanPledge Fundraising Program and your students. This will hopefully be a fun, easy, low-effort activity. Requiring only loading 20+ contacts per student into the Website before 10/7 (Saturday) with email and phone numbers. See Instructions sheet. It took our daughter 20- 30 minutes to complete this task. This information is NOT SOLD or used in anyway outside of this fundraising event.
On 10/10 (Tuesday), the Band will have a 40-minute telephone type event in the cafeteria where students will contact their pre-loaded Contacts and ask for donations to support our Band. Donations are tax deductible and can be paid by PayPal, Credit Card or Check. That is all that is required of each student. We will also need about 15 Parents to man some school-provided laptops to register the donations during the Event.
There will be fun competitions among Students and Band Sections at the event. FanPledge will be providing some awards for the “Section with the Highest Average per Student” and “Top Fundraising Student(s)”*. Additionally, Students that raise over $300 in donations will received free ticket to participate in our 1St Annual Top Golf Event on 15 January ($55/value). Details of this Event will be communicated in the weeks to come.
For those Parents who have been with the Band in past years, there will be no Annual Fund fundraiser.
What really made me take note of this type of Event is that traditional fundraising of selling an item is very limiting. For example, no family member or friend wants hundreds of dollars of cookie dough, logo cups, etc.; but they will more freely donate to support the Students without the need for anything in return.
Again, thank you for all you do in support of your Students and the Band. This Program relies on your support to maintain its legacy. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
