Illinois 5Essentials Survey | Now Open!
It’s that time of year again and we want your input! Please participate in the Illinois 5Essentials Parent Survey, as a part of the Illinois 5Essentials Survey administration. The survey responses will never be connected to the identity of you or your child as school reports will only present aggregated information of how parents responded as a whole.
In order for the survey report to be generated we need at least 20 percent of our parents to take the survey.
Please CLICK HERE to take the parent survey. It is open now through March 11.
If you have any questions about the survey, please contact 5Essentials Customer Support at 1-866-440-1874 or 5essentials@uchicago.edu.

South's Puppet Show
Mr. Skym’s sixth grade class created puppets for their final performances of the puppetry unit!
Our cardinals had 3 days to make their puppets out of a sock or bag using the various craft supplies in Mr. Skym’s class. Then they picked their groups and figured out what scenes they will perform based off of their puppet characters!
The performances show the various skills they learned including: movement, voice, improvisation, script reading/writing, characterization, and subtext!

Ivy's Poppin' Resolutions
What better way to ring in the 2022 New Year than by writing down your New Year resolutions? But this time… on pop tarts!
Ms. Swanson’s class at Ivy Hill created their own poppin’ resolutions for 2022! They each designed their own individual pop tarts, and wrote down what they resolve the most for the new year!

COVID-19 Dashboard
One shows the number of students and staff excluded from school in real time.
The second Dashboard reports out weekly, on Mondays (or Tuesday if Monday is a day where the District is closed), the positive COVID-19 cases per school from the past week, as well as the positive case trend district-wide for the year. This Dashboard is also reporting the District's SHIELD testing data.
FEEL GOOD STORY
Our students are learning about themselves via our Social Emotional Learning curriculum called RULER. In this lesson, students reflected on how they would be described by different people in their lives, and then they found four words of growth that they can focus on this year. This student’s vulnerability was powerful.
