Big picture

Seagoville Fire Department News

Each year during the Spring and early Summer the Fire Department is required to test every section of hose carried on the fire trucks along with all of the reserve hose in the racks at the fire station. Tests are conducted so that when the need arises, firefighters know that each section of hose will meet performance requirements.

The Fire Department constantly practices firefighting skills. Skill drills are part of the department's daily activities so that firefighters , when called to an emergency can perform at their best. Recently, each shift of the Fire Department went through an eight hour, in depth course to train on the new ladder truck. At the end of that class the operator of the truck was put through extensive testing. The lessons learned in that class were then carried over into training drills for each firefighter to demonstrate knowledge of the apparatus and its functions.

Citizens may notice the ladder truck set up around town as firefighters are training to be completely familiar with this apparatus in any situation they are faced with. Firefighters will also be set up doing night operations as they never know when the emergency will occur and must consistently train for the unexpected. The Seagoville Fire Department continuously trains and tests in order to become better operators and firefighters.

The Department recently took delivery of a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado. This new addition will replace the 13 year-old Tahoe that was driven by the fire chief. We are excited about the new addition as it represents growth to the city and the department.

Please remember that Fireworks are prohibited by City Ordinance in the city limits.
