Boone School Family Newsletter
August/September 2018
Principal's Message
Dear Families and Friends of Boone School,
Welcome back for another great year at Boone! We are very much looking forward to seeing all of our students return to school on September 4th and get off to a great start in their new classrooms. While we have many individual goals and focus areas, our primary school-wide goal this year is to grow our Arts education and integration throughout the building. This year we will promote the theme of Imagination and Ideas. To begin the year, each classroom will read the book, “What Do You Do with an Idea?” by Kobi Yamada. The book connects to our school goal of learning through imagination and the Arts, and will help provide a common language and framework across the school as we work on encouraging students to grow, cultivate, and share their imagination and ideas.
I hope to see many of you at our Family Fun Fest and Open House which will take place this Thursday, August 30th, from 12:00-3:00PM. Please see below for more details. And for those of you who can't make it, don't worry! Our teachers are already planning several parent engagement events that will take place throughout the year.
Thank you all for your support in our ongoing work with your students, and we will see you soon!
Sincerely,
Jackie Delaney, Principal
Schoolwide Read: "What Do You Do With An Idea?" by Kobi Yamada
Review of "What Do You Do With An Idea?":
This is the story of one brilliant idea and the child who helps to bring it into the world. As the child's confidence grows, so does the idea itself. And then, one day, something amazing happens. This is a story for anyone, at any age, who's ever had an idea that seemed a little too big, too odd, too difficult.
