iROCK in Mrs. Roesstorff's Class

Welcome to second grade!

I'm a Responsible Organized Caring Kid

I believe that my job as your child's teacher is to not only teach the standards, but to help show them the way to become an independent learner. iROCK is an important part of this; they are the 4 key elements in my classroom.

Apps that Mrs. Roesstorff Recommends

I plan on using a few apps during the school year. Below you will find links to the apps that I plan on starting with. I try to use apps that are free. I will also try to be aware on making sure that the apps are available both for IOS and android.

At the Second Grade Parent Night, I will also take time and go through the apps with you. It will also be a chance for you to download then.

What is Mrs. Roesstorff's Goal for Your Child?

Second grade has become such a big transition year. During the month of September we spend a lot of time working on routines and reminding ourselves what it means to be a member of a new classroom. As October comes around I begin to expect second grade behavior. By the end of the year, my goal for your child is to be an independent learner.

Due the heavy amount of curriculum we are expected to teach and the manner we are expected to teach in, your child may become frustrated. Please let me know if it is something that concerns you. Many times I have found that it is a miscommunication between home and school.

Curious on what standards are to be taught during second grade? Here are links to math and reading standards.
