Internet Safety & Copyright Piracy
Jones County Schools Family Engagement Team
We live in a digital world!
Online safety is now more important than ever. Students use online resources to communicate with friends, play online games, and event to complete school assignments. Although using the internet can invite creativity and promote learning, it can also involve risks such as cyberbullying, inappropriate content, and even online predators.
Along with these risks, there is also the possibility that your child may not know all the rules about copyright. With so much information at our fingertips, it can be very tempting for a child to copy information from an internet source and paste it into a document as their own work. Students must understand that there are moral and legal reasons to obey copyright laws. It is important that parents support schools in enforcing copyright rules, so our students will be the best digital citizens they can be!
Below you will find resources designed to inform parents about the dangers of the digital world as well as tips to help parents educate their children about using the internet in a safe and respectful manner. If we can help in any other way, don't hesitate to reach out.
