Curriculum Updates for the Coming Year
Unique and Challenging Courses offered through eCampus and Hillsdale College
In 2021 – 2022, students will have access to 30 different college-level courses offered through Hillsdale as part of their graduation plan. Courses include Mathematics and Logic, Civil Rights in American History, Classic Children's Literature, Introduction to the Constitution, The Second World Wars, Shakespeare: Hamlet and the Tempest, The Federalist Papers, And a Proper Understanding of K-12 Education: Theory and Practice.
Courses offered through PBL
eCampus will also expand courses offered through project-based learning. These include Sports and Society 1 and 2, Songwriting, Physical Fitness, Piano, and Health. We estimate approximately one dozen well-developed PBL seminars, workshops, and courses that students will be able to plug into, along with other options for students to develop coursework alongside their teacher! Got an idea? Let us know.
This is just scratching the surface! We offer hundreds of fully online, blended, and print-based learning options for our students and look forward to sharing these and other exciting developments in the coming year!
What Else is New for 2021-22?
Among our top priorities for this coming year is to introduce greater opportunities for our students to demonstrate mastery of learning by digging into projects of special interest. Foundry is a tool for guiding and managing asynchronous learning and our eCampus team, led by Ms. Poches, will be at the forefront of applying its features so that our mission above becomes for our students. Teachers and students, each in their own locations, are on track, sharing learning experiences, and completing work. Students journal about their learning, log their time and growth, get their specific needs met, and share evidence of their learning into their portfolio.
The goal is to offer deeper, authentic learning through personalized, project and inquiry-based learning. We appreciate the feedback from our students and parents highlighting further engagement with content, teachers and peers as a hope for the future. We're on it!
As highlighted in the May newsletter, we're moving! In an effort to better serve our students and families, many eCampus Academy teachers and staff will occupy space at 111 Dodge St. in Watertown that once housed the WUSD Health and Wellness Clinic. We feel this is an important step in our growth and see it as an opportunity to respond to some of the feedback we've received from our families about improvements to eCampus. With this in mind, we'll be offering periodic onsite blended learning opportunities for students to meet with teachers and peers for a variety of purposes such as academic support, engagement activities in science or art, fun projects, book studies, etc. Look for more information in our September newsletter. We hope you are as excited as we are!
eCampus and our Digital Learning team will also maintain its space at Watertown High School. This will be where our makerspace efforts develop and grow and will continue to serve students in our upper grades.
Gear is Here!
Tech Tips - Composing Professional Emails
Occasionally our newsletters will include helpful tips and information shared by our very own lead teacher, Tracy Poches, and our other amazing eCampus staff. These are intended to assist our students in working within our digital platforms and curriculum like Lincoln Learning. And some are just fun things to know how to do!

Career and Accelerated Degree Pathways
The eCampus Academy Pathways Program saves students time and money while accessing high quality, future-ready learning experiences and professional programs. We're really excited about this opportunity for students. Contact Dave Vitale with questions and/or visit our pathways page.
eCampus and WUSD Athletics/Co-curriculars
Did you know that eCampus students are eligible and encouraged to participate in athletics, clubs and other co-curricular activities? Even students who reside outside the WUSD boundaries may participate on WUSD teams and clubs.
