Sponsorships for the Spring Soiree!
The Charlemagne Annual Soiree is coming up April 17, and we could use some additional sponsorships. This is a great opportunity for businesses to get a shout-out at the event, as well as advertising in the program for the event. If you know of a business that would be interested in sponsoring our school at the event, please let us know. If you can ask the company you work for or think about sponsoring yourself if you own your own business we’d love to represent your business at Soiree. You can email jenny@jonak.com.
The money we raise for this event will help continue to provide native French-speaking interns and other assistance for our wonderful teachers.
Tickets will be available for the event in a few weeks, so be sure to save the date and start planning to come with your friends!

Science Fair is Coming
Spring must be coming because it's getting time for the Science Fair! This year the fair will take place the week AFTER Spring Break, on Thursday, April 2nd. The fair takes place after school from 3-6, and kids can bring in projects the day before or morning of. No need to sign up early or register. In order to be judged or have comments, the projects are due by noon the day of the fair.
The Science Fair is a fun opportunity for kids to explore areas of interest in the sciences, to learn the scientific method, and prepare and organize a project. Students may work as individuals or in groups and all grades are encouraged to participate.
We will have categories and will bring back judges to give the kids feedback from real scientists (judging is optional). Third grade will provide food and drinks to purchase as they raise money for their class trip to Canoe Island. It's always a fun afternoon!
A limited number of Tri Fold boards to display your project will be ready to purchase in the coming weeks at school. Office Depot also sells Tri-Fold boards.
If anyone wants to help judge please email us for details.

Parking and Pick-Up
A reminder about school pick-up: please do not have your students cross the parking lot while cars are moving. This is dangerous for everyone.
If you are in the carpool line, please wait in your car and move forward and have your student(s) enter your car when your car is stopped. If you are parked, please get out of your car to pick up your students and do not cross in front of moving cars. Make sure your older students know not to walk or run across the parking lot while cars are moving.
Please also remind your children not to dribble or bounce balls while waiting for pick up.
This will help keep the carpool and pick-up moving as quickly as possible and make it safe for everyone - thanks!

Coronavirus COVID-19 Information
Parents and students may have questions about the spread of novel coronavirus COVID-19.
At this time there are no identified cases of COVID-19 in our area. Our school district is monitoring the situation, staying in contact with public health authorities, and planning for the possibility that COVID-19 could affect our schools. We've also attached an article that we believe may help parents in talking about the virus with their children.
We are taking extra steps to reduce the spread of germs at school. Custodians are doing extra cleaning during the day and each night, focusing on frequently touched surfaces. Our teachers are reviewing proper handwashing and cough/sneeze hygiene with students.
Two important things for families to do to help keep yourselves and others healthy are to wash hands well and often, and stay home when sick—if your child has a fever of 100.4° or higher, or cold or flu symptoms, please notify the school and keep them home. Public health officials also emphasize covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue, not touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands, and cleaning frequently touched items. These are best practices for preventing the spread of illness.
Concern over this new virus can make children and families anxious. Talking with your kids calmly and reassuringly and providing accurate prevention information and facts can help them cope with anxiety. The National Association of School Psychologists and National Association of School Nurses have provided suggestions for talking with children about COVID-19. We hope you may find this helpful.
