Principal's Message
Principal's Message
I hope everyone had a great first week! I know that I truly enjoyed seeing all of our students back. My boss and I completed a building walk (twice, actually) and one thing that was great to see was the excitement and enjoyment that students were expressing. Kudos to all of you for making Miner a place where students were excited to be. This was also evidence by the fact that 85% of class dojo points issued were positive points! Way to celebrate the positives - keep it up!
Week two of school holds a number of possibilities and changes. We know that traditionally week two (post Labor Day) brings more students who did not make it during week one. Remember to welcome these students - it is never the elementary school-aged student who chooses to miss the first week. Work to create the same joy and excitement for them as you did for your students last week.
Week two also finds us engaging in rigorous, common core instruction. As we begin to make key instructional decisions, it is important to know that trying new things (and sometimes failing) is perfectly acceptable. No one is perfect. It is, however, important that we learn from our mistakes, and get better - our students deserve that from each of us. Do not be afraid to experiment until we find what works best for our students. I leave you with a quote:
"Fail early, fail often, but always fail forward" - John C. Maxwell
Have a great short week!
Principal Jackson
